EXPEDITIO: Workshop for drafting projects held for cultural actors of Boka (Montenegro)

On Tuesday, 25th October 2011, in the Municipality of Herceg Novi, the Workshop for preparation of draft projects was held for the representatives of cultural sector (mainly from the municipalities of Kotor, Tivat and Herceg Novi) by EXPEDITIO, Sostenuto partner in charge of the laboratory “Local Governance”. The workshop was held by Mr. Predrag Cvetičanin, who has an extensive experience in project management in culture sector. In focus group discussions held within the preparation process of Local Programmes for the Development of Culture in the Municipalities of Kotor, Tivat and Herceg Novi 2011-15, particular cultural actors expressed the need for a workshop of this type, and thus EXPEDITIO decided to organize the basic training for acquiring the elementary knowledge on project drafting.

Study visit to Ljubljana for the representatives of cultural sector from Kotor, Tivat and Herceg Novi (Montenegro/Slovenia)

From 30 May until 3 June 2011, a delegation of representatives of cultural institutions from the Municipalities of Kotor, Tivat and Herceg Novi had a study tour in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

This visit was organised by Expeditio, partner of the Sostenuto project, in charge of the laboratory “Governance”. Their host was the non-governmental organization Bunker from Ljubljana, also implied in the Sostenuto project, in charge of the laboratory “Non monetary exchange system”.

The aim of the visit was to acquaint the cultural sector representatives from the municipalities in Boka Kotorska with the Slovenian good practices in cultural resources management.

During the visit to the Municipality of Ljubljana, the group had the opportunity to learn more about the process of developing a cultural strategy of Ljubljana.  Then they visited ROG, the former bicycle factory, one part of which is going to be reconstructed and converted into a contemporary art centre. They also had a chance to learn more about the models of civic engagementt in local urban policy development. With the spatial sociologist, Matjaž Uršić, they had a workshop treating the topic “How culture can influence the development of a town, based on the example of Ljubljana”. On the last day of the visit, they were received by the town architect, Professor Janez Koželj, who spoke about the engagement of citizens and local initiatives and spatial changes in the city of Ljubljana. Their hosts, members of Bunker, presented on their own example how one public space can be utilized and managed by an NGO (Old Power Station as an example of public-private partnership) and took them to Metelkova centre  – an autonomous cultural zone in the centre of Ljubljana. The visit ended with a sightseeing tour of Ljubljana focusing on buildings designed by Plečnik, guided by the architect Robert Potokar.

City Mine(d) – URBAN PLATFORM – 19, 20, 21 November 2010

In November, City Mine(d) gathers in Brussels about 30 initiatives from 13 European cities, in an Urban Platform, to exchange and show their relation to big challenges like the environment, solidarity or democracy, present their approach and inspire people to action.

The Platform will take place over 3 days:
Friday 19 November: public debate in the Flagey building
Saturday 20 November: closed workshops hosted by locals in their home
Sunday 21 November: a Bazaar of initiatives, proposals, plans, opinions and activities

City Mine(d) invites EVERYBODY with ideas for, about and with their city to come to Brussels for this Urban Platform  to share those ideas, find allies, and put the framework into practice.

Questionnaire: Capacity of the cultural policy actors in Boka Kotorska (Montenegro)

Expeditio is conducting an analysis of the capacity of cultural policy actors in Boka Kotorska, through a questionnaire designed for that purpose. The idea of the questionnaire is to assess the capacity of public cultural institutions in the area of Boka Kotorska, which could form a basis for the creation of local cultural strategies. The analysis is part of the project “Non-institutional Partakers of Cultural Policy in Serbia, Montenegro and Macedonia“  and a continuation of the workshop “Strategic planning of culture at the local level”, organized in July 2010 in cooperation between Expeditio and the Departments for Social Affairs within the Municipalities of Kotor, Tivat and Herceg Novi (Montenegro).

Workshop “Strategic planning of culture at the local level”

Expeditio in cooperation with: – the Department for Culture and Social Affairs of the Municipality of Kotor – the Department for Social Affairs and Public Administration of the Municipality of Herceg Novi and – the Department for Economic and Social Affairs of the Municipality of Tivat has been organized a workshop on “Strategic planning of culture at the local level”. The workshop is intended for cultural stakeholders from the territory of Boka Kotorska (representatives of local governments, cultural institutions and non-governmental organizations from the municipalities of Kotor, Tivat and Herceg Novi). The workshop took place in Kotora (Bizanti Palace in the Old Town Kotor), on Friday, the 2nd of July 2010, with the beginning at 10 a.m.The workshop was a part of the project SOSTENUTO – Thinking culture as a factor of economic and social innovation. The workshop was delivered by by Mr. Predrag Cvetičanin currently teaching Sociology of the Arts and Culture at the Department of Sociology of the University of Philosophy in Niš, Serbia. Currently he is completing his Ph. D. Studies at the Faculty of Sociology of the University of Belgrade. He has experience in developing cultural strategies and conduting training programmes in culture.
